Welcome to Spyder Trek...

What is Spyder Trek?

It is a test of my will power to handle a super tiny car, on a cross country venture to see my family, and to see old friends at my 30th High School class reunion.

Can I do it? Can I do it without cramping up? Without throwing a clot? Without going crazy?

The car...

From VIR Winter Test Session

2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
Powered by a 2005 Toyota 190hp 2ZZ-GE 1.8 liter engine. So it is not your typical Toyota MR2 Spyder, you know, the one the chicks drive?

From Spyder weekend work

For this trip I have pulled out the unneeded items, like the soft top. The Spyder is a convertible. I have a hard top in place of the soft top and that just got in the way. The extra room is needed for my baggage. The Spyder has no trunks, no places to put stuff. It is a sports car, not like those "touring" cars that like to be calls "sports cars". So out came the 60+ pounds of stuff that really is not needed for my trip.

A few more things need to get done before I take off from the east coast of the USA. I built a new quieter exhaust, but when I welded it up, something went wrong and now it hits the chassis... so a new better looking exhaust is getting built this weekend. I liked the center exit. But I do like dual exit exhausts, the sound is just better. Even better when each side has a dual exit. This helps mellow the sound as well. More as I build it this weekend.
